Trientalis is a small genus of flowering plants containing three species known as starflowers or wintergreens. These plants have the unusual trait of sometimes bearing flower parts in sevens. They may also come in fives and sixes. The roots are tuber-like. They are native to North America and northern Eurasia. Trientalis is Latin for "one third of a foot", which is the approximate height of the plant.
