Boscá's newt (Lissotriton boscai, formerly Triturus boscai ), also known as the Iberian newt, is a species of newt in the family Salamandridae. The species is found in Portugal and western Spain.
Etymology
The specific name, boscai is in honor of Spanish herpetologist Eduardo Boscá.[1]
Description
L. boscai is a small species, measuring about 9.9–10.8 cm (3.9–4.3 in) in total length.[2]

The natural habitats of L. boscai are temperate forests, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, rivers, intermittent rivers, swamps, freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, sandy shores, arable land, pastureland, rural gardens, water storage areas, ponds, and introduced vegetation.
Conservation status
L. boscai is threatened by habitat loss.
