Tropical Storm Carmen

The name Carmen has been used for one tropical cyclone in the Atlantic Ocean, 13 storms in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, one in the Southwest Indian Ocean, and twice in the Australian region.

Atlantic:

• Hurricane Carmen (1974), strongest storm of the 1974 Atlantic hurricane season; hit the Yucatán Peninsula, then crossed the Gulf of Mexico and made a second landfall in southern Louisiana; killed 8 people and caused at least $162 million (USD) in damage

• Tropical Storm Carmen (1949) (01W)
• Tropical Storm Carmen (1952) (23W)
• Typhoon Carmen (1957) (11W), made landfall in southern China
• Typhoon Carmen (1960) (31W), largest eye of any tropical cyclone in recorded history, more than 200 miles (320 km) across; made landfall on South Korea as a 50 mph (80 km/h) tropical storm; 24 casualties and $2 million in damage (1960 USD)
• Typhoon Carmen (1963) (23W, Luding)
• Typhoon Carmen (1965) (35W, Anding), Category 5 super typhoon
