Troux Technologies (pronounced "true") is a software vendor that provides tools and services in the areas of Enterprise Architecture and Strategic Planning for large enterprises. Troux is based in Austin, Texas with offices in Washington D.C. & London. Troux was founded by Gerald H. "Hank" Weghorst in 2000, and has been funded by Austin Ventures among other venture capital firms. Troux technologies is mentioned in The Forrester Wave™: Strategic Planning For The BT Agenda, Q1 2015 by Gordon Barnett and Margo Visitacion, March 13, 2015 [1]
Company Founding and Early Years
In 2001, Hank Weghorst founded Troux Technologies. Weghorst was serving as the Chief Technology Officer of Question Technologies, a company he co-founded with David Sikora and David Panos in 1999. Weghorst developed an initial product offering that would graphically depict the architectural configuration of information technology assets. In that same year, Troux raised initial funding from Austin Ventures[2] and became a stand-alone venture from Question Technologies. Question was acquired by Motive Communications Motive, Inc.
During 2002 Troux launched the Troux Blueprinting System version 1.0 and the Troux Reference Model version 1.0. Troux also secured its first three customers: Northern Trust, AT&T and State Farm Insurance. In 2003, Troux departed from the Blueprinting System brand and launched the Troux IT Governance Suite. The IT Governance Suite essentially repackaged and renamed the Blueprinting System. Troux also raised a Series B financing round in 2003 led by Greylock Partners with participation from Austin Ventures.
Acquisition of Computas Technologies and Metis
In January 2005, Troux Technologies announced the acquisition of Computas Technologies of Norway.[3] Computas provided the Metis Modeling Tools Suite, a desktop application in wide use by Enterprise Architects in the public and private sectors. According to analysis from Gartner analyst Greta James at the time of the acquisition, "Troux Technologies' acquisition of Computas' Metis product and its North American operations may result in a functionally rich product. Merger risks include an aggressive product delivery schedule."[4]
