Troy Williams (born December 30, 1994) is an American college basketball player entering his junior season with the Indiana Hoosiers.

High school career

Williams Spent his first three years at Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia before transferring to Oak Hill Academy for his final year. In his senior season, he averaged 16.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the Warriors. He was ranked the 54th best player in the 2013 class by ESPN and 2nd best in the state of Virginia. Williams was recruited by a number of college programs. Williams cited his relationship with head coach Tom Crean and the style of play as major factors in committing to play for the Hoosiers.[1] Williams is the first Indiana player from Oak Hill Academy, as well as the first Hoosier from the Boo Williams AAU program, coached by his uncle.

College career

Freshman year

Williams started all 32 games as a freshman. He averaged 7.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting over 50% from the field. He was twice named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

Sophomore year

Prior to the 2014–15 season, the Hoosiers took a trip to Canada to play against some of the country's college programs. Williams averaged 18.4 points and 6.4 rebounds over the course of the road trip. During his sophomore season, was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten, while averaging 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds in 32 games (28 starts). On December 23, 2014, he was named Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week. Williams finished the season with a double-double in a loss to 7-seed Wichita State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Following the season, Williams considered entering the 2015 NBA draft, but decided to return to Bloomington for his junior year.[2]

Family

Williams was raised his mother, Patty, and his guardian (Uncle) Marcellus Spencer "Boo" Williams Jr., who played collegiately for Saint Joseph's University and now runs the Boo Williams AAU program and Boo Williams Nike Invitational in his native Hampton, Virginia.[4]
