Udaari (Punjabi: اڈاری; lit: To Fly) is a Pakistani drama serial that first aired on Hum TV on 10 April 2016.[1] It is written by Farhat Ishtiaq, and co-created and co-produced by Momina Duraid under the production banner of Momina Duraid Productions and Kashf Foundation. It stars Urwa Hocane, Farhan Saeed, Bushra Ansari, Samiya Mumtaz, Maryam Fatima, Rehan Sheikh, Ahsan Khan.[2][3]

Outline

Udaari focuses on the social and economic marginalization of women in Pakistani society, while also highlighting deeply rooted problems such as child labour and rape, in order to break the myths and taboos around these issues by providing solutions.

Plot

The drama revolves around two close neighbours, Sheedan (Bushra Ansari) and Sajida (Samiya Mumtaz). Sheedan is married to Maajid (Rehan Sheikh). While, Sajida is a widowed wife of Parvez, friend of Imtiaz (Ahsan Khan). Sheedan, the eldest sister, has a daughter, Meera (Urwa Hocane) and a son. Sajida has a daughter, Zebo (Areesha). Imtiaz proposes Sajida but she ignores. She asks from Sheedan and many others but all say positive. She marries him. The same day she married Sheedan's husband dies.However Imtiaz starts to show his true colours once he marries Sajida as he shows unacceptable behaviour such as looking at Meera when she comes to Sajida's house to ask for something.Once she stars playing with Zebo hee stares and plays with his necklace.Also Zebo is told by him not to say anything to her mother as she get jealous of them supposedly.

Teaser of Udaari was revealed on March 23, 2016 by Hum TV on Facebook.[4] From April 11, 2016, it was announced on Facebook that Udaari is a tribute towards various women such as Pakistani Women's Cricket Team captain, Sana Mir, veteran actress Samina Peerzada and Ayesha Farooq, the first female fighter pilot in Pakistan.
