Uddingston Grammar School is a mainstream state school located in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is one of 17 secondary schools operated by South Lanarkshire Council. Its motto is 'Virtute Crescam' which means 'May I grow in moral excellence'.
The school was opened in August 1884.[1] The school's catchment area includes the communities of Uddingston, Bothwell, Tannochside, Viewpark and recently parts of Newton in Cambuslang.
It was located by Uddingston railway station. In 2009 Uddingston Grammar moved to a new school building as part of South Lanarkshire Council's school modernisation programme. The new school building was built on the old school playing fields located in Meadowbank flood plain, after a number of local objections to the suitability of the site. Work commenced during July 2010 by developer Barratt Homes to turn the old school site into homes. Whilst most of the building was demolished, the old maths department remains as apartments, it is a Grade II listed building.
The school's roll is approximately 1,078 pupils as at September 2013 with approximately 90 teaching staff (FTE).
Attainment
Uddingston Grammar School consistently outperforms or maintains the average attainment for schools in South Lanarkshire Council and Scotland. Approximately half of students enter higher education upon leaving the school.
The school has a smaller proportion of students who receive free school meals in comparison to average for South Lanarkshire Council and Scotland as a whole.
House Groups
The school is divided into 6 house groups Arran, Bute, Lewis, Mull, Orkney and Skye, named after islands in Scotland.
Previously there were four house groups - named Clyde, Douglas, Dechmont & Calder after Scottish rivers.

- Boyd Tunnock, CBE - Grandson of Thomas Tunnock and current owner of Uddingston's famous Tunnock's biscuit factory.
- Colin Cameron - served as a member of parliament and minister in Malawi in the early 1960s
- Stuart Carswell - Footballer, currently playing for Motherwell.
- Iain Munro (born 1951, attended U.G.S. 1963-69) - Former professional footballer playing in Scottish Premier Division, and English First Division, and for Scotland's national team. He was selected for the Scottish schoolboys team while at the Grammar. Also P.E. teacher and UEFA Pro Licence coach, has coached and managed professionally in Scotland and is currently coaching youth soccer in the USA.

- Mike Kerr (attended U.G.S. 1994-99) - British Paralympian in Wheelchair rugby who competed at London's 2012 Summer Paralympics and also carried the Olympic torch as part of the 2012 Summer Olympics torch relay around the U.K.
- Aileen McGlynn, OBE (born 1973) - British Paralympian in Tandem Cycling, she has competed in three Summer Paralympics and broken multiple world records.
