Udyavara Madhava Acharya (born 25 March 1941, Udupi Karnataka) is an orator,[1] short story writer,[2][3] poet, actor,[4] choreographer in the media of drama, classical dance and Yakshagana, and an economics professor. He publishes his literary works with pen name "UMA" Being a postgraduate in Economics, Acharya began his career in Bhandarkar's college Kundapur, continued his service in Poornaprajna College Udupi and retired as Principal at B B Hegde College of Business Management Kundapur.

Acharya has served as a member of Karnataka Janapada Academy. Rajyothsava Award from the Government of Karnataka, Rangavisharada from Rangabhoomi, Udupi are some of the awards he received. He has led the 4th Kannada Sahithya Sammelana of Udupi.[8] Cultural friends of Udupi under the able guidance of Pejavar Mutt and Puttige Mutt Swamiji felicitated Acharya on his 60th birthday under the banner SAMOOHA RANGOTHSAVA.
