Ulavuthurai is a 1998 Tamil crime film directed by Ramesh Selvan. The film features Vijayakanth in lead roles. The film, produced by Vijay Prabhakaran, had musical score by newcomer Shah and was released on 14 January 1998. The film was Vijayakanth's 125th film and became a superhit.[1][2][3][4]

Plot

Several persons die mysteriously in the sea, so the navy looks for its best officer Vasanth Periyasamy (Vijayakanth) to investigate the case. Vasanth Periyasamy changes his identity into Krishnamoorthy, a car driver and lives in disguise for his family sake. In the past he was married to Meena (Meena), an uneducated woman, and had a daughter Priya (Baby Jennifer). Some terrorists kidnap Meena and they threatened to kill her if he didn't release their partners in jail. Meena is killed and the terrorists were released because of corrupt naval officers. The Department of the Navy sent Vasanth to jail, he decides to forget the navy and becomes a simple car driver.

Compelled by the navy, Vasanth Periyasamy finally decides to solve this odd affair.
