Imran Khan (Urdu: عمران خان) (Born 28 May 1984) is a Dutch-Pakistani singer, songwriter, and record producer. He rose to fame in 2007 after the success of his first single "Ni Nachleh".[1]

Khan was signed to Prestige Records in late 2007, and released the single "Ni Nachleh" on the label.[1] His second single, "Amplifier" was released on 13 July 2009. It received two million views on YouTube in one week and as of 3rd November 2015 has received more than 50 million[2] hits. A few months later, on 30 November 2009, Prestige Records published the track 'Bewafa', which has a total of over 10 Million[3][4] hits. In July 2009, Khan's first album, Unforgettable, was released, produced by Eren E and Hakan Ozan. In 2011, Khan started his own label "IK Records."

Early life

Imran Khan was born on 28 May 1984 in The Hague, Netherlands. His parents were from Gujranwala, Punjab, Pakistan and had settled in The Hague in the early 1980s. Khan's love for music was evident from a very early age.

He started his music career during his early teenage years. In 2005 Khan met up with an old friend called Shahid Mazhar based in the United Kingdom. Mazhar was impressed with Khan's abilities.[5] Later that year Mazhar took Khan to Lahore in Pakistan to give his music a kick start and to complete his first album working with the biggest and most popular music production teams in Pakistan. After working day and night in the studio for almost two months, an eight-track album was mastered. However, after hearing the final product, Khan was not impressed with the album. He thought the album was too traditional for his sound and decided not to go ahead with it. Shahid agreed with Khan's thoughts and decided that the album would not be released. Khan later moved on and released his song "Ni Nachleh".

Career

Khan started his career in his late teens.[6] His friend Shahid Mazhar founded Prestige Records,[7] which released Khan's debut single "Ni Nachleh".[1] Khan had started performing in several countries in the later part of 2009.[8]

Khan’s first released single, "Amplifier", was produced by Eren E and was released on 12 July 2009.[9] His second single, "Bewafa," was produced by Hakan Ozan and was released on 30 November 2009; as of November 2015, the music video of "Bewafa" had been viewed approximately 11 million times[10] on YouTube.[11]

In July 2009, Khan released his debut album, Unforgettable. It includes the singles "Amplifier", "Bewafa" and a remix of his first single, "Ni Nachleh".[12] It was nominated for Best Album in the 2010 UK Asian Music Awards but did not win.[13] In 2011, Khan departed from Prestige Records to start his own label, later known as IK Records.[13]

Khan released the single "Satisfya" on 9 May 2013. "Satisfya" got 801,160 views on YouTube in 3 days.[14] Unlike his previous singles, it was released by IK Records. The single was produced by his "Amplifier" music producer Eren E. The music video shows Khan driving a yellow Lamborghini Aventador and sitting with a cheetah. Khan's "Satisfya" video was directed by David Zennie who had previously directed the blockbuster hit Brown Rang of Yo Yo Honey Singh in 2011.As of December 2015, the video of "Satisfya" had garnered 33 million views[15] on YouTube. Imran Khan made his Bollywood debut as a singer for the Hindi film Tevar, which was released on 9 January 2015.However,the song was not much popular so he left Bollywood.[16] Imran Khan released a single titled "Imaginary" on 8 June 2015, produced by his "Ni Nachleh", "Amplifier" and "Satisfya" producer Eren E. The single was released on his own record label, IK Records. Khan shot the video with David Zennie in downtown Los Angeles. "Imaginary"'s official music video received 6 million views[17] on YouTube within a month of its release. Imran Khan went on and yet came out with another song called "Hattrick" which has 2 million views in a month.
