United Cab
United Cabs was started in 1938 in New Orleans, LA and, with the exception of a month after Hurricane Katrina in which radio service was disrupted, has operated 365 days a year.[1] It is the largest company in the area with over 400 radio-dispatched cabs.
In January 2016, New Orleans-based sweet shop Sucré approached United Cab with to deliver its king cakes locally on-demand (i.e. within 90 minutes of an order being placed). Sucré saw this partnership as a way to alleviate some of the financial pressure being placed on taxi services due to Uber's presence in the city.[2]
