Universal Channel Philippines was a television channel specializing in movies and television series in the thriller, drama, comedy, crime and investigation genres. It was owned by Universal Networks International, with a partnership with Solar Entertainment Corporation.
History
Sci Fi Channel was launched on April 1, 2009, specializing in science fiction, fantasy, and horror shows and movies.[1] On July 26, 2010 at 6:00 AM, Sci Fi Channel (Philippines) was replaced with the world's most popular cable and satellite channel, Universal Channel, while Sci Fi Channel (Asia) was rebranded as Syfy Universal (Asia) on the same day.
It was announced the Universal Channel Philippines except Sci-Fi Channel Philippines (now Syfy Universal Asia) to end the broadcast (under Solar) on August 3, 2012 as the channel shifted its broadcast to the regional Southeast Asian feed.
