University Baptist Church (UBC) is a Southern Baptist Church located in University Belt in Metro Manila, Philippines.

History

University Baptist Church began as a student work extension in 1966. A handful of believers requested Reverend Bill Wakefield, the first Baptist Student Union (BSU) Director, to conduct Sunday worship services for them. Rev. Enrique "Henry" Cabalang took the position the following year after few foreigners led the work. He resigned to work as full-time pastor of UBC in 1972. The church established an aggressive ministry in evangelism, missions, and discipleship. Leaders were trained. Pastors, workers, missionaries were produced. Mission churches sprouted in nearby provinces and in Metro Manila until Rev. Cabalang resigned in 1993.

Subsequent senior pastors of UBC Manila after Rev. Cabalang are Rev. Cesar Juan U. delos Santos (1993–1996); Rev. Dr. Danny L. Johnson as Interim Pastor (1996); Rev. Danilo R. Santiago (1997–1998); and Rev. Armand M. Canoy (1999–Aug 2012). Since Rev. Canoy moved to PBTS, Bro. Peter Blair S. Agustin, the Vice Chair of the BOT/CC, took over the leadership rein of UBC assisted by Pastors Marvin Gibson, Emmanuel Garvez, Rei dela Torre and LLoyd Stephen Reyes. Bro. Peter turned-over ministry leadership to Rev. Mac Ranie M. Reyes in July 2013, when he became the new senior pastor.

UBC's ministry structure is purpose-driven: Worship, Service, Missions, Discipleship, and Fellowship. Each purpose is led by a pastor/minister. UBC's mission srategy is focused on establishing student centers (Youth Life Student Center) near universities and colleges. Presently, UBC operates four YL Student Centers in Morayta, Manila (Manila University Belt), Lagro-QC (fronting Fatima University), Sto. Tomas, Batangas (near PUP Sto. Tomas) and Binangonan, Rizal. Each student center is overseen by a Pastor and a ministerial staff, namely Pastor Marvin Gibson and Rowena Flores (Morayta), Pastor Emmanuel Garvez and Leah Malig (Lagro), Pastor Rei dela Torre and his wife Beth (Sto. Tomas) and Pastor Stephen Lloyd Reyes and Jocelyn Villela (Binangonan).

UBC is praying to open a 5th student center anytime soon.
