Unwindia is a genus of basal ctenochasmatoid, though more recent analysis might place it in Lonchodectidae.[1] It is noted to be "aberrant" pterosaur from the Late Cretaceous. It is known only from a partial skull recovered from the Santana Formation of the Araripe Basin in northeastern Brazil, which was dated to the Cenomanian stage.[2] This species was named Unwindia trigonus by David M. Martill in 2011.[2] The skull length was estimated at 300mm, which would indicate a wingspan of over 3 meters. This would make Unwindia the largest member of the Lonchodectidae, as well as the first species to be identified from the southern hemisphere.
