Rodney K Jackson (born March 4, 1967), aka R.K. Jackson, is the publisher and founder of The People's Urban Beat Report (The PUB Report) and music producer/ keyboardist for Urban Tracks Productions and the dance music group Kopatechnic.
About
Jackson was born in Chicago, Illinois. In 1991 he got his start by co-producing and playing keyboards on CeCe Peniston's first single, "Finally" on A&M Records. It became one of the first House music records to reach the Top 5 on Billboard's charts. He also wrote several other songs on her first album including, "Inside That I Cried", "You Win, I Win, We Lose", and "Virtue". The album went on to become Gold and garnered Jackson a BMI songwriter's award in 1993.
Jackson also signed Peniston's backup singer and friend, Malaika, to a deal with A&M in 1992. The song "Something New" was used in Robert Townsend's movie, "Meteor Man". He spent the next few years working as a keyboardist and played on several remixes for artists such as Madonna, Brandy, and Elton John.
In July 1996, Jackson founded "The Phoenix Underground Beat" and later changed the name to The PUB Report.
R.K. Jackson is currently CEO of Urban Tracks Entertainment which includes, The PUB Report, Heat City Records, Urban Tracks Records, and Upicktheartists.com.[1]
KopaTechnic
Consisting of members Amber Dirks, R.K. Jackson, and Jimmie Alston, Kopatechnic has begun its assault on dance floors in Europe and America with their single “When I Hit The Club”. The idea for this group was born when producer/remixer R.K. Jackson (Cece Peniston, Madonna) asked Amber to sing lead on an upcoming project. Amber, fresh off a tour with a major international act agreed and with the help of Jimmie Alston, Kopatechnic was created. The group is currently working on the follow-up single and album slated for a 2010 release.[2]
