Uruguay national rugby league team

Not to be confused with Uruguay national rugby union team.

The Uruguay national rugby league team (Spanish: rugby league equipo nacional de Uruguay), nicknamed Gauchos Uruguayos (English: Uruguayan Gaucho), represents Uruguay in rugby league and made their debut at the first Latino Sevens on 17 October 2015.[1]

Rugby League Has yet to be played on Uruguayan soil but efforts are in place to bring rugby league to Central and South America through the Latin Heat Rugby League. After the Latin Heat fielded enough Uruguayan players to make up a Rugby league sevens team so they entered into the first ever Latino Rugby League Sevens Tournament.
