Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga (July 4, 1947 December 26, 1988) was an Indian National Congress politician in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

Personal life

He was born in Katuru near Vuyyuru, located in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh on July 4, 1947. Ranga had four elder brothers: Vangaveeti Koteswara Rao, Vangaveeti Venkata Narayana Rao, Vangaveeti Sobhana Chalapathi Rao [Ex.M.L.A.,Vuyyuru] and Vangaveeti Radha Krishna. Ranga was married to Chennupati Ratna Kumari. Ranga always has been on the side of poor people. They have a son Radha Krishna, named after Ranga's brother Late. Vangaveeti Radha Krishna and one daughter Asha. Radha Krishna entered politics after his father's death and has been a congress party MLA from 2004–09, later he shifted to Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) and then to YSR Congress Party on 28 April 2012.He is a great leader.

Public life

When Ranga's brother Vangaveeti Radha Krishna was killed by Communists, Vangaveeti Ranga took over the charge of his brother's legacy. He became more popular in his own community He became a most powerful person to the Kapu community. He was an Indian National Congress politician. During his entire political career he had to go through many ups and downs.

He was murdered by group of people who came in Ayyapa Mala costume. After his death, Vijayawada turned very violent. This incident turned city to be under curfew for 40 days.
