Variante di Valico

Variante di Valico (number A1 var) is a deviation of the Italian A1 motorway opened to traffic on 23 december 2015, between La Quercia and Aglio in central Italy. With the widening of the A1 it is 62.5 km long and with long stretches in viaduct and tunnel, the longest tunnel being 8.7 km long. It runs parallel to the central part of the Bologna-Florence motorway A1. The earlier motorway is opened, giving optional routes along two parallel motorways that split before the Appennini and merge again after the mountainous section.
The twin-bore Sparvo Tunnel or 'Galleria di Sparvo' was completed in July 2013.
Schematics and Photos of the works are available on SkyscraperCity and YouTube[1] [2]
