Vasko Mladenov (Bulgarian: Васко Младенов; born 30 July 1989) is a Bulgarian professional tennis player. His career high ATP singles ranking is world No. 674, which he achieved in March 2016. His career-high ATP doubles ranking is world No. 417, which he achieved in March 2016. Currently he is the fifth highest ranked Bulgarian tennis player. He participated in Davis Cup in doubles in March 2016, but Bulgaria lost the match to Turkey.[1]

Early and Personal life

Vasko was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, as the only child of father Vasil, who is from Bulgaria and mother, Elena, who is from Russia. When he was five he began to play daily. In his early years his grandfather, Lev Shulga, served as his coach. He speaks Bulgaria, Russian and English. Mladenov employs an aggressive style of playing, Right Handed forehand and Double Handed Backhand. His favourite surfaces are clay and hard. His ambition is to get as far as possible in tennis career. His hobbies are listening to music, playing the piano, snooker, billiards and playing football. Currently he resides in Sofia, and is coached by Miroslav Gergov.

Junior career

He won three tournaments as a junior. The first one was in 2005, he defeated Plamen Avramov in Plovdiv in straight sets, final score was 6-0 6-1. The second one also was in 2005, in Timisoara, he defeated Maksim Bakunin in three sets, 6-4 4-6 7-6(4). The third and final one was in 2006, in Kiev, he won the tournament after beating Uladzimir Ignatik in three sets, 3-6 6-3 6-1. All these tournaments were played on clay court. In 2007, in France, he played the European Junior. Bulgaria was represented by Vasko, Valentin Dimov and Aleksandar Lazov, they were runners-up.

Professional career

2005

He made his debut in 2005, in Ukraine, he played a Futures $10 000, he received a wc for the main draw. In first round he beat Ilya Marchenko, but in second round he was defeated by Alexander Markin.
