Vats Church (Norwegian: Vats kyrkje) is a parish church in Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vats at the southern end of the lake Vatsvatnet. The church is part of the Vats parish in the Haugaland deanery in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in 1855 using designs by the architect Hans Linstow.[1][2]
History
The first church at Vats was most likely a medieval stave church. That church was replaced by a second church in 1640. That church, in turn, was replaced by the present church in 1855.[3]
