Velasquez's woodpecker (Melanerpes santacruzi) is a species of bird in the Picidae family formerly considered conspecific with the golden-fronted woodpecker (Melanerpes aurifrons).

It is endemic to southern Mexico and parts of Central America.
There are eleven subspecies:[1]
