Velenka
Velenka is a village in Nymburk District near the Labe River with the population of 247 inhabitants living in 123 houses and the area of 498 ha.
The name of Velenka was first recorded in 1352 and belonged to the property of the town of Poděbrady. The architecture of the village is based on long farmer's houses but now used for the recreational purpose. The central building is the Baroque Saint Peter ad Vincula Church designed by Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer in 1733.
Czechoslovak politician Josef Smrkovský was born in Velenka in 1911.
