Verax NMS is a cross-platform network and application monitoring software developed by Verax Systems Corp. Verax NMS has been implemented as a three-tier Java Enterprise application using Adobe Rich Internet technology as the front end.[1]

Technology and architecture

Due to its architecture Verax NMS can be installed in any operating environment supporting Java 1.6 or higher, including Microsoft Windows systems, Linux, FreeBSD, IBM AIX and Solaris.[2] Client side of the Verax NMS works on web browsers supporting Adobe Flash technology version 9 or higher and mobile client operates on Android, iOS and Windows Mobile platforms.

Verax NMS architecture is plugin based and each managed entity (node or an application) is designed as a plugin. Plugins within the system are divided into five categories: general network devices, applications & databases,[3] virtualization infrastructure, data center devices (e.g. Poseidon sensors)[4] and power devices.[5][6][7] Verax NMS is distributed with Software Development Kit (SDK) for custom plug-in development.[8] System supports Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and is open for integration with other systems via Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) or Java Remote Method Invocation (RMI).

Versions

Verax NMS is distributed in five different versions. The Express version of Verax NMS is free to use and is limited by the number of monitored elements.[9][10]
