Verrucaria is a genus of fungi in the family Verrucariaceae.[1]

Species

Verrucaria maura. Forms a black layer encrusting as patches on the rocks of the upper littoral and splash zone.[2][3]

Verrucaria mucosa Appears as a smooth thallus.[4]Closely encrusting on rock in irregular patches in the middle littoral.[5]

Distribution

Verrucaria ditmarsica Erichsen and V. Maura Wahlenb. have been recorded in 1984 from the Lighthouse Island, Copeland Island, Co.Down, Ireland.[6]
