Vicky Larraz

Victoria López Muñoz de Arce Larraz (born in Madrid, Spain) known professionally as Vicky Larraz is a Spanish singer and TV presenter.[1]

Career

Olé Olé

She became famous in 1983 as vocalist of the musical group Olé Olé. The producer of Mecano, Jorge Álvarez chose her to be part of the new group that he was forming at that time to the wake of Mecano.

The group began with the single "No controles" written by Nacho Cano, it was a great hit and elevated the group to the top of the sales charts in Spain and Italy. The band released two LP with Vicky, Olé Olé (1983) and Voy a mil (1984).

Solo career

In 1986 She released her first solo album "Vicky Larraz" composed by her and Steve Taylor, with hits like "Rompamos el hielo", "Yo que nunca amé" and The Supremes' cover "Stop in the name of love". The album followed the line of singers like Donna Summer. In 1987 was released her second LP "Siete noches sin ti" that it was at the Top 10 of sales. The LP contains her greatest hit "Bravo samurai" that also recorded an English version of this song titled "Summer nights". Other singles from the album were the homonymous song "Siete noches sin ti", "A little bit of Heaven" and "No te metas en mi cama". In 1989 was released their third and final album to the date titled "Huracán". The album was recorded in London, Madrid and Amsterdam and it was a hit in Spain, with songs like "Mucha mujer para tí" and "El amor es el huracán". This album was recorded in English too, but finally It wasn't released.

In 2000 a compilation CD was released with all her recordings with Sony/CBS. Vicky has been away from the music since 1992 working as a TV presenter in The USA where she actually lives. In 2010 many of her fans asked for her return to the music to which she responded with the release of "Contigo otra vez", a digital EP including two new songs written by Marcelo Montesano. In 2012 she announces her return to the music and releases a new single titled "Earthquake" that became #1 in the Single Music Charts in FNAC.

In 2013 together with her ex-band members, Gustavo Montesano, Marcelo Montesano, Emilio Estecha and Sonia Santana, they release a single "Por Ser Tú" in memory of their band member Juan Tarodo that died that year. The single's profits are destined for Juan's widow and 2 young children. Written by Larraz and Gustavo Montesano it quickly became a number 1 on iTunes and on sales of CDs in Spain.

In 2015 Vicky Releases a new single "Llevatelo Todo" which gives title to a "7 CD Box Set" with all her career, spanning from 1983-2015. In this box set she releases versions that had never been released and a live concert with her old band "Ole-Ole" The Box Set becomes #1 in Sales and is still selling throughout 2016.

In August 2015 Vicky becomes one of the 9 Artists of the Hit Show 4th Season "Tu Cara Me Suena", The show is an instant success in the Friday Prime-Time of Antena 3, and is playing until January 31st of 2016. The show becomes the most successful of it's series and Vicky is seen by more that 3 million viewers every Friday. It is also shown worldwide.

Personal life

Vicky Larraz was born in Madrid, Spain. She later moved to Miami, Florida, USA in 1992, where she worked mostly in Television projects as host. She married in 2001 and had two children, Olivia and Sophia. She later announced her divorce in July 2013. She has not married since then.
