Victory is an Evangelical church based in the Philippines. Victory exists to honor God and establish Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, socially-responsible, churches and campus ministries in every nation.[2] It is a member of Every Nation, with churches and campus ministries in 69 nations. [3]
History
Victory was started by Steve and Deborah Murrell, who came to the Philippines in 1984 with 65 other American university students on a one-month summer mission trip.[4] Since 1984, Victory has planted churches in 60 Philippine cities. [5]
As of November 2015, Victory's Metro Manila church draws some 80,000 worshipers across 15 congregations, all with multiple services and locations, and many offering more than one language. Each location has multiple preachers.[6] This multi-site church holds 94 services every weekend, each of them led by live preaching, training Filipinos to reach their cities, the nation, and the world. [7] Over 10,000 leaders conduct small weekly discipleship groups. [8]
Doctrine
As a member of Every Nation, Victory adheres to the statement of faith of the World Evangelical Alliance. [9]
Discipleship and Leadership Training Process
Victory's discipleship-making process involves four E's: engage, establish, equip, and empower. Since its inception in 1984, church members are equipped to compassionately engage communities, intentionally establish biblical foundations, strategically equip believers, and continually empower disciples.[10] Its primary vehicle for discipleship is the Victory group, a small group of people who get together, build relationships, and study the Bible.[11][12][13] As a member of Every Nation, Victory has a heart for church planting, campus ministry, and leadership training. [14]
Victory Worship
In 2014, Victory Worship, a group of passionate worshipers from Victory that is passionate about making music that inspires listeners to know and follow Jesus, [15] released its first live worship album, "Radical Love," a Contemporary Christian release that topped the iTunes Philippines chart and performed well on iTunes album charts in other countries, including Singapore, Indonesia, and the United States.[16] "Radical Love" and its 2015 follow-up, "Rise Heart," were certified Gold by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry Inc.
