Vidadi Aydin oglu Muradov - carpet-expert, Doctor of Philosophy in History, Professor, founder and head of "Azer-Ilme," Editor-in-Chief of "Azerbaijani carpets" magazine.

Life

Vidadi Muradov was born on March 5, 1956, in Barda city of the republic of Azerbaijan. During 1974-1980 studied at the Moscow Cooperative Institute, Economy Faculty, to obtain a degree in the "Organization of Economy." As of 1980 till 1994, he worked at different organization of the republic as an economist. During 1998-2002 worked as deputy general director at the "Azerkhalcha" Scientific Creative Production Union. Since 2006 up to date has been the consultant of the Affairs Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He is the director of scientific-research and production center – "Azer-Ilme," founded in October, 1994. The objective of "Azer-Ilme" is to restore long forgotten designs, produce high-quality carpets, and publicize the Azerbaijani carpets decorating a number of private collections and world museums. Muradov is the professor on decorative-applied art at Azerbaijan Eurasia University. In 2014, in the "Population history and historical demography" department of the History Institute of ANAS, Muradov successfully defended his doctor of philosophy dissertation on history. His thesis was "On the Development of Carpet Weaving Art in Iravan District of Azerbaijan: Late 18th Century and Early 20th Century (on the basis of 100 original carpets from the district)." He knows Azerbaijani, Russian and Turkic languages. He is married and has three children.

Major Scientific Direction

Investigation of the historical roots of the carpet weaving art, analysis and comparison of ancient traditions, the study of Azerbaijani carpet weaving in the historical aspect of population, the improvement of classification principles of carpet groups, disclosing national carpets held at the world museums and private collections, and their fair identification and so on.
