Vidita Vaidya is a Senior Overseas Research Fellow of the Wellcome Trust and was previously an associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences. She works in neuroscience and molecular psychiatry at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai.[1] Her work has garnered the 2015 Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology for Medical Sciences.[2] She was also a recipient of the National Bioscience Award for Career Development in 2012.[3]

Education

Vidita received her undergraduate degree from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai in Life sciences and Biochemistry. She obtained her doctoral degree in Neuroscience at Yale University. Her postdoctoral work was done at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and at the University of Oxford in UK.[4]

Career

She joined the Dept of Biological Sciences, TIFR in March, 2000. She has been a Wellcome Trust Overseas Senior Research Fellow and an Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences.[4]

Work areas

Her publications and lab works include

  1. Understanding the neurocircuitry of emotion,
  2. its modulation by experience and
  3. the alterations in emotional neurocircuitry that underlie complex psychiatric disorders like depression.[5]
