Commodore (S) Vijitha Bandara Meddegoda, USP, BSc(Difence Security), MBA is the Commodore Superintendent Logistics (Eastern Naval Command) of Sri Lanka Navy.[1]
Education
Meddegoda was educated at Nalanda College, Colombo, and joined the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University as an officer cadet of the 4th Intake. After graduation he enlisted in the Sri Lanka Navy as a Midshipman in the Logistics branch. Upon successful completion of officer training as a Midshipman at the Naval and Maritime Academy he was commissioned as a Sub-lieutenant. Thereafter he underwent Sub Lieutenant Technical Course in India. He gained his MBA from University of Western Sydney in 2004.
Naval career
Meddegoda was the former Naval Secretary to the Commander of the Navy (Sri Lanka) from 1 July 2014 to 11 July 2015. He served as Director Naval Budget, Director Naval Foreign Procurement and the first Director ILMS of the Sri Lanka Navy. Meddegoda has been awarded service medals Uttama Seva Padakkama and Sri Lanka Armed Services Long Service Medal. Currently he is the Commodore Superintendent Logistics (E) and Chairman of Sri Lanka Navy Taekwondo Association.
Family
Vijitha is married to Shiranthi Wijesekara Meddegoda, She was a Senior Manager of Commercial Bank PLC.
