Vikram Solar is a private company based in Kolkata and the second-largest solar energy company in India by revenue.[2] It also carries out engineering, procurement and construction services and operations & maintenance of solar power plants. It is a subsidiary of Vikram Group, which also has subsidiaries in the tea processing, textiles and engineering industries.[3]

History

Vikram Solar was founded in 2006 by Gyanesh Chaudhary[3] as a subsidiary of Vikram Group as a manufacturer of solar modules, lighting systems and power packs. It has since moved into engineering, procurement and construction, and solar power plant operations & maintenance.[4] In 2015 the company completed the first floating solar power plant in India.[5]

In January 2016, Vikram Solar was awarded the Fastest Growing Company Award for companies with a turnover between INR 300 crore & INR 1000 crore at the Economic Times Bengal Corporate Awards.[6]
