Viorel Simion (born October 19, 1981)[1] is a Romanian professional boxer and a former WBC International Featherweight champion.

Amateur highlights

As an amateur, Simion won two bronze medals, at the 2005 World Boxing Championships in Mianyang, China and at the 2002 European Boxing Championships in Perm, Russia. He also represented Romania at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece also as a featherweight.

Professional boxing career

The WBC final Featherwight eliminator ordered by the World Boxing Council between Simion and Celestino Caballero (36-4, 23KOs), with the winner landing a shot at current champion Daniel Ponce de León, should take place on a date in 2013.[2][3]
