Viva el lunes (English translate: Live on Monday) was a Chilean TV show, transmited by Canal 13 during 10 seasons, from October 16, 1995 to January 29, 2001. The TV hosts were the Miss Universo 1987 and ex newsreader Cecilia Bolocco, the comedian Álvaro Salas and the businessman and TV host Kike Morandé.
After the end of the show, Morandé went to MEGA, where he began his new late night show Morandé con Compañía, while Salas followed making others TV shows in Canal 13, and Bolocco disclaim for to marry and live in Argentina with the ex president Carlos Menem.
The Studio 3 that was used by Viva el Lunes, today is called "Gonzalo Bertrán Studio", in honor to the TV show's director, that dead in January 30, 2001, one day after the last episode. This studio was used by other late night show as Nace una estrella (2000-2001), El lunes sin falta (2001), Por fin es lunes (2002-2003), Aquí se pasa Mundial (2002), Vértigo (2003-2008). Mucho Lucho (2003-2006), and others.
In 2014, Viva el lunes was retransmited in Rec TV. In November 16, 2015 at midday, Canal 13 release ReViva El Lunes, a compilation with the best of 6 years from the TV show, reemplacing Homenaje Gigante.
Notable facts
- During the episode of April 7, 1997, Argentinian footballer Diego Armando Maradona suffered a problem with his blood pressure, because he had to be carried to a hospital of Santiago after show.[1]
- In the episode of July 7, 1997, the Lebanese linguist Ziad Fazah, a resident of Brazil, who claimed to speak and write in 58 languages, was invited to the show. The production of the show decided to invite several native speakers, ambassadors of several countries in Chile and people with good domain of foreign languages, by to test the linguist. Successively, the invites were presenting, and each one sayed a phrase in his/her language for to see if Fazah could translate. The linguist failed in several opportunities, when trying to translate languages as Persian, Finnish, Russian, Chinese, Greek, and Hindi. After that, he recognized to be confused, and he accepts the challenge to make the same test in other chance, in that also it fared much better.[2][3][4]
- During the episode of March 11, 1996, the Brazilian singer Xuxa is protagonist of the longest giggles of Chilean TV, because the jokes both the TV hosts to comedian Felo. Notably, this episode shot to fame to this comedian.[5]
- The TV show in several chances was transmitted from other countries, as in March 27, 2000, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by the soccer match between the Chilean Soccer Team and Argentina. In this chance, it was invited the singer Christina Aguilera, who also dancing La Peineta with Kike Morandé.
- In February 5, 2001, it was realized a special episode, without audience in the studio, for to remember the best of the path of Gonzalo Bertrán in TV. Formally, this is the last episode of the stellar night talk show.
