Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur
Vivekananda College, established in 1950 as Barisha College, is an undergraduate college in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta.[3][4]
In June 1956, Vivekananda College was sponsored by the State Government and upgraded to Degree College status, and renamed to Vivekananda College, in honour of Swami Vivekananda.[5] Due to a lack of space, the college moved from Barisha in 1959 to Thakurpukur, with the previous site being used for the women's sectionVivekananda College for Women.[6]

Campus Area Details
Located in a sprawling green 10-acre campus off the Diamond Harbor Road, the college boasts of one of the biggest campus areas in Kolkata. It has its own play ground, water body, Gym Facilities and other three departmental buildings.

Awards
Ranked No. 1 Top Science College from Kolkata of West Bengal, Ranked 28th in National Level under India Today Magazine-A.C. Nielson Survey in 2014, and Ranked Top 41 Science College-National Level in Ready Reckoner 2015 Rank in Science India Today Survey .[9]
