Vladimir "Vlado" Georgiev (Serbian Cyrillic: Владо Георгиев, Serbian pronunciation: [ʋlǎːdo ɡeorɡǐjeʋ], born 6 June 1976) is Serbian pop singer, composer, and songwriter.
Biography
Family and personal life
Georgiev was born in Dubrovnik, Croatia to father Dragoljub[2] from Dimitrovgrad, Serbia, and mother Borka[2] from Sarajevo, Bosnia.[3] He has an older brother, Saša.[2] Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Herceg Novi in Montenegro, where he was raised and lived until age 16 (ca. 1993),[3] after which he and his brother moved and settled in Belgrade.[2] He holds a Serbian passport, and has not yet taken a Montenegrin one (since the state union split in 2006).[3]
He rides motorcycles,[2] and has traveled around Europe with his Harley-Davidson. He has also climbed the Himalayas. His other interests include sea sports and boats.
Career
Georgiev has recorded three studio albums to date: Navika (Habit) in 2001 and Žena bez imena (Woman without a name) in 2003 and Daljina (Distance) in 2013. In 2005 Georgiev released a hit single, Nisam ljubomoran (I'm not Jealous). After a two-year break he released a single Do svitanja (Till Dawn), along with a ballad named Ti i ja (You and Me). In 2009 Georgiev released two singles again, Hej ti (Hey You), which became a huge success, along with a ballad titled Bez tebe (Without You).
He is a musician and composer. First he played harmonica and his wish was to become a great jazz harmonicaist. Then he started playing piano, synthesizers and other keyboards. He became great club performer started as very young (11 years old). Soon he became very popular arranger working with many ex-Yugoslavian and foreign stars. Then he started writing songs for himself and for the other popular stars in ex-Yugoslavia. He was also a producer for the Montenegrin hip hop band Monteniggers, and is still a friend with their only living member, Niggor. Georgiev and Niggor have also recorded a song "Tropski bar" together.
He is among most popular star singers and performers in Serbia and in Montenegro, and is popular in all ex-Yugoslav states. He owns a record label "Barba Music", VG-Art studio production company and Studio Barba in Belgrade. He is a big fighter for the authors rights.
He worked as coach in the two editions of the Serbian version of the talent-show "The Voice" ("Prvi glas Srbije") in 2011 and 2012.
