William A. Baker MBE (born September, 1954), is more commonly recognised in literary circles by nom de plume as the internationally acclaimed, multiple award-winning author W. B. Baker.[1][2][3][4]
This author's conspicuous contribution to the field of contemporary literature through historic fiction and classic poetry has been recognised by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, by the House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States, being additionally honoured with a Senatorial Resolution from the Missouri State Senate.[5][6][7][8]
Early career
Upon receipt of his Bachelor of Science, Baker then went on to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa as a Graduate Teaching Assistant; where he studied under the internationally recognised Terence Knapp. He relocated to the United Kingdom to continue graduate studies at Cardiff University in 1979 as a Rotary Foundation International Graduate Fellow.


During two years at Coleg Y Brifysgol Caerdydd, he was invited to participate in international tours to The International Festival of University Theatre (Nantes, France) and the then National Theatre of Western France in Rennes, Brittany, with production assistance to the Welsh National Opera, Theatre Wales (National Theatre of Wales), and in tours to the Africa Centre in Covent Garden (London), the Oxford Festival of Theatre, and the Salisbury Playhouse.
After receiving his PgD in Theatre (Postgraduate Diploma from Cardiff University), he relocated to London and attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before travelling to the United States and assuming the post of Associate Professor and Chairman of the Theatre Department at Avila University; a position he held until 1996. During his tenure, he was twice honoured with Avila University’s Professor of the Year Award for Teaching Excellence and served as Guest Speaker at numerous conventions of the International Thespian Society and the American College Theatre Association.

Featured on the Internet Movie Database (credited as Buck Baker),[9] his filmography includes appearances in a wide variety of motion picture and television roles in England, France, and Wales.[10] Noteworthy performances include those on the BBC (Radio Wales) and numerous appearances on ABC Television, BBC Television, CBS Television, NBC Television, 20th Century Fox Television, and films by Miramax Films, Orion Pictures, and Universal Studios.[11]

Honours and awards

At the recommendation of His Grace, The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop Of Canterbury, Lady Marion Brett and Reverend Michael Greene-Butler, W. B. Baker was bestowed the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal by personal command of Queen Elizabeth II for his contributions to the Monarchy of the United Kingdom. Subsequently, he has been recognised with a Tribute in the Congressional Record of the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC and honoured with a Resolution from the Senate of the State of Missouri.[15][16]
Baker was made an honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for Contributions to Literature in 2010.[17] He serves as the Adjunct Primary of the St. Anne Commandery, serves on the Research Board of Advisors for the American Biographical Institute, the Grand World Board of The Order Of The Celtic Brotherhood, and is a member of The Royal Society of Literature, The Royal Society of St. George, and the British Society For Ethical Theory at the University of Kent.
Baker was presented the title of Knight Commander of the International Chivalric Order of St. George and is listed in Gale (Cengage) Contemporary Authors.[18][19][20]
