W. Erskine Johnston, a highly rated public school,[1] was opened in 1969 and is located in Kanata's Beaverbrook neighbourhood. It accommodates students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. The school is named after a member and deputy speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, William Erskine Johnston. This school has a grade 4,5,6 and 7 Middle French Immersion program as well as a before and after school program.
