W. Raymond Beck (born December 7, 1932), was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from District 39.

Background

W. Raymond Beck was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1994. He served until 1999 and did not run for reelection. The two-Republican district was replaced by three Democrats: Charles E. Barkley, Paul Carlson, and Joan F. Stern after district lines were redrawn.

Education

Delegate W. Raymond Beck attended the U.S. Naval Academy, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1954. He returned to Annapolis and received his Master of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1962 from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.

Career

Delegate Beck served in United States Navy from 1950 until 1984. He achieved the rank of captain before retiring. He also received the Bronze Starfor duty commanding a destroyer during the Vietnam War.

Delegate Beck only served a short time in the Maryland House of Delegates. During that time he served on a couple of committees, including: the Ways and Means Committee and the Special Committee on School Enrollment Management.
