WVVE (100.1 FM, "Groove 100.1"), is a radio station broadcasting a rhythmic oldies format. Licensed to Panama City Beach, Florida, USA, the station serves the Panama City area. The station is currently owned by Magic Broadcasting II and features programing from Westwood One.[1]

History

The founders/owners of WPCF-FM 100.1 were Charles K. And Carlie B. Winstanley. Winstanley also owned WYLA-FM 94.7 & WYLK-FM 104.7 New Orleans North Shore. In 1965 Winstanley was the founder/owner of WQXY-FM 100.7 Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He sold WQXY-FM to Allison Kolb of Gulf Union Corporation and moved his headquarters to Florida. The station was assigned the call letters WPCF-FM on 1987-12-03. On 2000-03-10, the station changed its call sign to WQJM and again on 2002-06-25 to the current WVVE.[2]

On April 15, 2014, at 10AM, WVVE dropped its Hot AC format and began stunting with a loop of the song Let's Groove by Earth, Wind & Fire. The station and its website were promoting that on the 17th, at 10AM, "Panama City will find its groove". The station flipped at that time to Rhythmic Oldies as Groove 100.1. The first song on Groove 100.1 was Fantastic Voyage by Lakeside. The new Facebook page for the station promotes Groove 100.1 as "Feel good old school from the 70s, 80s, and 90s".
