Walter Henry Housman III (born October 13, 1962) is a former American football offensive tackle who played one season with the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He first enrolled at the University of Iowa before transferring to Upsala College. He attended Merrimack High School in Merrimack, New Hampshire.[1] Housman was also a member of the New York Knights, Denver Dynamite and New Orleans Night of the Arena Football League.
College career
University of Iowa
Housman first played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes for two years before injuring his knee.[2][3]
Upsala College
Housman transferred to play for the Upsala Vikings for three years, graduating in 1987.[2] He also played basketball for one year.[3]
Professional career
New Orleans Saints
Housman played in three games for the New Orleans Saints in 1987.[1]
New York Knights
Housman played for the New York Knights in 1988.[4]
Denver Dynamite
Housman played for the Denver Dynamite from 1989 to 1990.[4]
New Orleans Night
Housman played for the New Orleans Night in 1991.[4]
Coaching career
Upsala College
Housman was an assistant coach for the Upsala Vikings in 1988.[2]
Tulane University
Housman served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Tulane Green Wave in 1991.[2]
University of South Dakota
Housman was defensive line for the South Dakota Coyotes from 1992 to 1996. He was also special teams coach from 1994 to 1996. He later served as defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach from 1997 to 1998.[2]
Central Connecticut State University
Housman served as defensive line coach of the Central Connecticut Blue Devils in 1999.[2]
Saint Anselm College
Housman was linebackers coach of the Saint Anselm Hawks in 2000.[2]
Chicago Rush
Housman served as defensive coordinator of the Chicago Rush from 2001 to 2008.[2] He also had previous coaching experience in the Arena Football League with the New England Sea Wolves, Miami Hooters and New Orleans Night.[2]
College of the Holy Cross
Housman was a volunteer assistant and defensive ends coach for the Holy Cross Crusaders in 2009. He later served as defensive line coach in 2010.[2]
Chicago Rush
Housman served as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach of the Chicago Rush from 2011 to 2013.[5][6]
Los Angeles Kiss
Housman has been defensive coordinator and assistant head coach of the Los Angeles Kiss since 2014.[7][8][9]
