The Warrnambool Line is a regional passenger rail service operated by V/Line in Victoria, Australia. It serves passengers between state capital Melbourne and the regional city of Warrnambool.
History
In 1993 passenger services on the line were contracted to the private company West Coast Railway. This arrangement remained until 2004 when the contract was handed back to the State Government. V/Line have since operated services on the line. Marshall station in Geelong was opened on the line in 2004,[1] and Sherwood Park station in Warrnambool in 2006.[2]
Services
Mondays through to Saturdays, V/Line operates three daily passenger trains in each direction on the Warrnambool line from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne. On Sundays two operate in each direction. Services as far as Waurn Ponds station are operated as the Geelong Line. Services run by Metro Trains Melbourne also operate as far as Werribee station as the Werribee Line.
Classified by V/Line as an Intercity service, a snack bar is provided on board trains, and first class accommodation is available. Locomotive hauled N type carriages are used, and all services run semi-express between Geelong and Melbourne, stopping only at major stations.

From 12 October 2014, V-Line Warrnambool train services stop at Waurn Ponds Station as part of the extension of the Geelong line.
