Waseem Akhtar Shaikh is a Pakistani politician of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). He was born November 25, 1955, in Karachi, Pakistan. He is the son of Akhter Muhammad Khan. As a politician presently he is an active member of National Assembly of Pakistan. As a main source of income, he runs a business of Real Estate and a married with six children.

After his early academic education he finished his degree program in Telecommunication Engineering. At the initial establishment of MQM, he joined the party in 1988, at this moment he has been working under the group of local Govt. planned for 2 years and have now earned a high up knowledge in political field under the banner of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)..[1]

Waseem Akhtar was nominated as the next Mayor of Karachi on December 15th, 2015.[2]
