Razor & Tie is a New York-based corporation founded in 1990 by Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam.[1] The company encompasses a record label with major label distribution (Sony Music Entertainment and Sony-owned RED Distribution), a home video company, a media buying company, a music publishing business, a marketing, promotion and sales team, and a direct marketing operation.[2]

Razor & Tie represents musicians producing music in folk, dance, metal, pop, rock, soul and world genres. Razor & Tie rose into prominence with its Kidz Bop compilations, which features children singing the latest chart-topping hits, only with child-friendly lyrics.[3]

In 2014, the company announced the creation of its new imprint, Washington Square Music.
