History
Waverley Wanderers FC is an association football (soccer) club from the south-east suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria and was originally known as Waverley AEK. The Waverley Wanderers FC was established in 1986 by the Greek community, competes in the Victorian State League Division 4 and club uniform colours are yellow and black for home games and all white for away games. The club has teams in men both senior and reserve teams and junior boys teams from age 10 to U18.
The Football Club is largely based on the AEK Athens F.C. (Greek: Αθλητική Ένωσις Κωνσταντινουπόλεως, Athlitiki Enosis Konstantinoupoleos, "Athletic Union of Constantinople") is a Greek association football club based in Athens. The team was forced to change its name due to copyright infringements. The club has had steady on field achievements, being top half of the table since its formation, until 2008 season, when Wanderers were relegated from Victorian State League Division 2. In 2009 Wanderers just avoided relegation finishing 10th on Victorian State League Division 3. The Wanderers usually participate in the Hellinic cup.
