Weesam Express originated in Zamboanga City, Philippines. The company was founded and headed by Hadji Ahmad W. Sakaluran as President and Hadji Wahab A. Amil his nephew in Zamboanga City. Established on February 19, 1997, it started with a vessel plying from Zamboanga City to Sandakan, Malaysia called M/V “LADY MARY JOY No. 1. It was the only ship then plying the BIMP-EAGA route directly from Zamboanga City to Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia and vice versa route. Weesam Express PH is now one of the major players in the Leyte, Bohol and Bacolod routes.

Weesam Express's main port of call is Zamboanga City. Other ports of call include Bacolod, Cebu City, Iloilo City, Ormoc City, and Tagbilaran, as well as Isabela, and Jolo. And manila
