Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

Werner-Friedrich Weinlig (28 November 1912 – 25 March 1979) was a highly decorated Kapitänleutnant in the Kriegsmarine during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.

  1. There is no reference of the Knight's Cross awarded to Werner Weidlig in the German Federal Archives. His personal file contains a letter from 1955 by the Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt), indicating that no proof of the award exists. The date was assigned by the Association of Knight's Cross Recipients (AKCR).[3]
