West London College (WLC) is an independent college of higher education, located in the Mayfair district of Central London and has a student body of 1100 full-time students. The College is an Associate Campus of Heriot-Watt University[1] and specializes in the tuition of degree programmes. It is part of the British Study Centres Group of Colleges which includes British Study Centres School of English, and Hove College.

History and location

The College has its roots in correspondence schooling from the 1930s onwards and took its present form in 1977. Since 1997 it has occupied the six-floor building of Parliament House, opposite Selfridges in Oxford Street and in 2004 took over the former training facility of Marks and Spencer in Manchester Street, called Hannah House which the College occupies with its sister school, British Study Centres School of English. Hostel accommodation is provided for students in the Bayswater and Notting Hill areas of central London.

Accreditation

West London College has been awarded Premier Membership of Study UK,[2] a status reserved only for those independent colleges that have successfully undertaken a full British university Quality Assurance inspection and been duly authorised to run British university degree programmes under official licence. The College holds a UKBA “Highly Trusted” Tier 4 Sponsor’s Licence.[3] West London College is subject to educational oversight by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) under the UK Border Agency's Tier 4 sponsorship requirements.
