Wheaton Regional Park

Wheaton Regional Park is located in Wheaton, Maryland, and managed by Montgomery County. The park was established in 1960, incorporating several large parcels of land into one of the county's largest parks (536 acres [217 ha]). It offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including hiking, horseback riding, and ice skating. It includes a number of major subparks, including Brookside Gardens, Brookside Nature Center, and the F. Frank Rubini Athletic Complex.

It is also the home to the Ovid Hazen Wells Carousel and a miniature train. The train is a replica of an 1863 C. P. Huntington engine and passenger cars; it takes passengers on a short tour of the park.[1] The Herschell Spillman Company 1915 turn-of-the-century musical carousel has 33 jumping horses, three zebras and two chariots.[1] The train and carousel operate weekends only in April and September and daily from May through August.
