Wide-Eye is an animated children's television series based on award-winning audio books and set in the fictional Natterjack Forest. The television series consists of 10-minute episodes, made between 2003 and 2005. The programme is about a wise, old guardian owl named Wide Eye who lives inside a tree with his young son, Little Hoot, and his bouncy friend, Flea. Wide-Eye is scheduled for a live re-run in 2017.
Characters
- Wide Eye – The titular character who lives inside a tree. Fatherly, gentle and sometimes annoyed, he watches over all the animals in Natterjack Forest. Voiced by Anton Rodgers
- Little Hoot – Wide Eye's son. He sleeps at night, and has a vivid imagination, although like many children, he is sometimes daunted by new challenges. Voiced by Maria Darling
- Flea – A female bouncy flea who is Little Hoot's friend. She also lives in a tree, and she is always ready to join in with Little Hoot's adventures. Voiced by Jane Horrocks
- The Natterjack Toads – 3 green and orange toadlets who live at and play in Natterjack Pond. Voiced by Maria Darling, Jimmy Hibbert and Jane Horrocks
- Mother Natterjack – A female orange toad who is mother of the Natterjack Toads. Voiced by Anton Rodgers
- Great Grandma Toad - Another female orange toad who is grandmother of the Natterjack Toads. She wears purple glasses and often cooks food for the toadlets. Voiced by Anton Rodgers
- Father Natterjack – A male green toad who is father of the Natterjack Toads. He appears in quite a few episodes. Voiced by Anton Rodgers
- 99 – A male centipede who sleeps in a burrow. He has trouble with his legs. Voiced by Jimmy Hibbert
- Conchita – A female fluffy grey and white Chinchilla who lives under the roots of a tree. Voiced by Maria Darling
- Rangatang – A male orange ape who runs a shop somewhere in Natterjack Forest. Voiced by Jimmy Hibbert
- Hetty – A female stinging hornet who likes things to be clean and tidy. Voiced by Jane Horrocks
- Fireflies - Several nocturnal fireflies who only appear at night in Natterjack Forest. Voiced by Jimmy Hibbert
- Wily Komodo – The villain who always causes mischief in Natterjack Forest. He lives inside a rocky den. Voiced by Jimmy Hibbert
- Baby Komodo – Wily Komodo's son who cannot swim. Wily often has to silence him with one of his paws. Voiced by Jane Horrocks
- Batwing – Wily Komodo's mysterious spy who is a female bat. She sleeps upside down inside a rocky cave. Voiced by Maria Darling
- Tim Woodward - The Natterjack Forest Keeper who provides narration. He is never seen, but he is commonly heard in the Audio Books.

In 2005, Wide Eye was released on DVD, recommended by Tempo Pre-School, released by Tempo Video, made by Abbey Home Entertainment and distributed by Abbey Broadcast Communications. Apparently, several DVD releases were (and still are) available in the United Kingdom.
