Will McDonough (born February 23, 1980) is an American businessman and entrepreneur. Will is also known for being a confidante and manager to the New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady.[1]

Early life

Will grew up just outside Boston, Massachusetts. At Westwood High School, where he served as President of the student body, he started working for the New England Patriots, owned by the Kraft Group. Over 10 years with the Patriots, he had many roles within the organization, starting as an unpaid student intern. It was in this role that he met and was befriended by Brady.

Entrepreneur & Businessman

In 2002, Will graduated with a degree in marketing and pre law from Boston College. He continued to work for the Kraft Group throughout college, overseeing and growing their off-the-field revenues, negotiating logo rights, licensing deals for the team, and creating brand extensions.

In 2007, he left the Kraft Group to start McDonough Management Company where he guided and grew the careers of celebrities and sports figures such as Brady,[2] Gisele Bündchen, Wes Welker and Tedy Bruschi. During this time Will also focussed on real-estate opportunities and established Real Estate Advisors, an independent real estate brokerage firm.

In 2008, Will joined Avenue Capital Group[3] where he launched and grew a $250 million distressed debt and credit fund.

In 2010, he joined Goldman Sachs to manage the private capital of the current and retired partners of the bank.[4]

In 2013, Will Co-Founded Atlas Mara, acquiring 8 banks in Africa and taking it public on the London Stock Exchange in 2014 (ATMA:LSE). He continues his work in Africa through his business, Emerging Markets Capital with partners Jyrki Koskelo formerly of the World Bank, and Atlas Mara Chairman and Ecobank CEO Arnold Ekpe. The group has been enlisted by Uber to build out their franchise across the continent, financing vehicle acquisitions through their business, Africar4u.

Will serves as the Chairman of Banks.com, and owns and operates CoreStone Capital, where he invests and guides big bank team lift outs specializing in launching investment businesses, having most notably partnered with former BlackRock CIO Peter Knez to launch his business Incapture, former iShares and ETF creator Lee Kranefuss, and investment manager, professor and author Vinay Nair to launch their business, 55 Capital, former Barclays CEO Bob Diamond, and many others.

Will previously partnered with Andy Heyward in founding A2 Entertainment, an animation and cartoon company that partnered with AOL, Warren Buffett, Gisele, Martha Stewart, Stan Lee, and Arnold Schwarzenegger to create educational content for children, which he sold to Genius Brands on 2012 (NYSE: GNUS).

Personal

Will married former Victoria's Secret model Stephanie Clegg in a private ceremony at Bakers Bay Golf and Ocean Club, where they have a home, in 2015.[5]
