William Prior (priest)

The Ven. William Henry Prior , AKC was an Anglican priest: the Archdeacon of Bodmin [1] from 1956 [2] until 1961. [3]

Born on 30 September 1883, he was educated at King's College London and ordained in 1908. After a curacy at Chipping Barnet he was the Rector of Beachburg, Ontario[4] then St Barnabas’, Ottawa. Returning to England he was Vicar of Saltash from 1925 to 1956[5] when he took up his Archdeacon’s appointment.

He married Eleanor Rachel, 5th child and 2nd daughter of James Arthur Wellington Foley Butler, 4th Marquess of Ormonde on 1 July 1961; [6] and held the office of Archdeacon Emeritus until his death on 17 November 1969. [7]
